  16. Before Downloading WinCIS Version .94 BETA from CompuServe
  17.  
  18.         The files for downloading WinCIS are large so please be
  19.         aware that this is a BETA version of the product.

  21.         As such we have tested the product but CANNOT GAURANTEE
  22.         that it can run under every possible enviroment.  The purpose
  23.         of beta testing is to ensure a software product will run
  24.         under the largest possible hardware, software, and operating
  25.         system environment combinations.

  28. Installing WinCIS
  29.  
  30.         What you Should Know to Use WinCIS
  31.  
  32.         Before installing and using WinCIS, you should have a basic
  33.         knowledge of your computer and the Windows environment.  In
  34.         particular, you should be familiar with the use of menus,
  35.         windows, and dialog boxes and other controls typically used
  36.         in the Windows environment.
  37.  
  38.         You should be able to select items by highlighting them with
  39.         the arrow keys, or clicking on them with the mouse.  You must
  40.         also have an understanding of the operation of your modem.

  42.         For more information about the Windows operating system, refer
  43.         to your Microsoft Windows User Guide.  For more information about
  44.         your modem, refer to the manual that came with your modem.

  47. WinCIS Prerequisites
  48.  
  49.         WinCIS requires the following minimum hardware and software
  50.         environment to run acceptably:
  51.  
  52.         An IBM PC, PS/2 or 100% compatible computer.
  53.  
  54.         A 386/20 CPU chip.
  55.  
  56.         At least one floppy disk drive of 1.2MB 5.25" or a 720K 3.5"
  57.         floppy and a hard disk.
  58.  
  59.         At least 2 megabytes or more of RAM.  The more RAM you have the
  60.         better WinCIS will run.
  61.  
  62.         Approximately  1.5 megabytes of free space on your hard disk
  63.         drive in order to install the complete WinCIS product.  If you
  64.         already have some of the required DLL's the space will be
  65.         correspondingly less.
  66.  
  67.         Microsoft Windows 3.0 or 3.1 running enhanced mode installed on
  68.         your system.

  70.         An Asynchronous modem from 1200 - 9600 Baud.

  72.         WinCIS may run on configurations that do not meet these minimum
  73.         requirements, however, the performance may not be acceptable.

  78.         The following is a list of the files necessary for downloading
  79.         from CompuServe:

  82.         The naming convention used is WCnnnX where:

  84.                 WC  ....... indicates WinCIS
  85.                 nnn ....... indicates version
  86.                 X   ....... Sequence

  104.                         library.  (REQUIRED)

  118.                         is present on your system.  If so then there

  121.                         This file is NOT INSTALLED by the installation
  122.                         procedure.  Simply unpack this file into your
  123.                         \WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory if you need it.

  126.         If you download WinCIS from CompuServe you will need to unzip
  127.         the files into a working directory, 1.2 or 1.44 diskette
  128.         prior to running the installation.

  130.         Then run INSTALL using the ProgMan FILE/RUN menu from the
  131.         place that you unzipped the files.
